It delivers extraordinary lubrication in diesel engines found in commercial, fleet and personal vehicles. Built with the latest additive and synthetic base oil technology, AMSOIL Premium Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil exceeds the higher performance demands of modern engines. It withstands the stress of heat, soot and acids to help prevent deposits, wear and corrosion. AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 is wax-free with a broad viscosity range to provide exceptional cold-weather starting and high temperature protection. It resists breakdown and offers maximum fuel efficiency over extended drain intervals.

AMSOIL, the leader in automotive synthetic lubrication, produced the world’s first API-qualified synthetic motor oil in 1972. Trust the extensive experience of AMSOIL, The First in Synthetics,® to do the best job protecting your engine.

Exceeds Emission System Requirements
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil is a low-sulfated ash formulation that exceeds the requirements for low-emission quality diesel oil. It is compatible with all exhaust treatment devices and is designed to extend the service life of diesel particulate fi lters (DPF).

Extended Drain Performance
AMSOIL Premium 5W-40 Diesel Oil can extend drain intervals far beyond those recommended for conventional petroleum oils. Its unique synthetic formulation and long-drain additive system (10.4 TBN) deliver superior engine protection, cleanliness and performance over extended drain intervals. AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil provides
maximum protection for up to 3X the OEM-recommended drain interval, and further with oil analysis.

Improves Fuel Economy
The advanced synthetic technology used to engineer AMSOIL Premium 5W-40 Diesel Oil enhances viscosity properties and is proven to deliver better fuel economy. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Federal Test Procedure confirms that AMSOIL 5W-40 Diesel Oil provides up to 3 percent better fuel economy than conventional 15W-40 diesel oils.

Total Savings with AMSOIL $1,161 $58,050

*Based on 120,000 miles per year with an OEM-recommended drain interval of 10,000 miles. Avg. 6 mpg, 32-qt. oil sump, $3/gal. fuel, $34.36/gal. AMSOIL, $13.55/gal. conventional diesel oil. Does not include labor, filter or used oil disposal costs, making AMSOIL even more cost effective.

Reduces Oil Consumption and Emissions
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Oil has lower volatility (burn-off) than conventional petroleum oils. Because less oil vapor passes into the combustion chamber, oil consumption and emissions are reduced. Lower volatility helps AMSOIL Premium Diesel Oil retain its viscosity after high-temperature service for dependable protection and excellent fuel economy.

Controls Soot-Thickening and Wear
The advanced synthetic base oils in AMSOIL 5W-40 Diesel Oil are naturally resistant to soot contamination. That, along with a heavy fortification of detergent/dispersant additives, keeps soot particles suspended independently, helping prevent the formation of larger wear-causing particles. Viscosity increase is minimized and soot-related wear is controlled.

Product Recommendations for Diesel Vehicles
There are new rules in affect beginning in the 2007 model year for all diesel applications.
Stricter EPA guidelines are now calling for a new specification on all diesel lubricants. The spec is classified as CJ-4 and it must be used in 2007 diesel engines or you will cause harm to your engine.

Amsoil’s recommendations are as follows:
For all 2007 and newer diesel vehicles the following oil must be used: DEO 5W-40 - This is Amsoil’s newest Synthetic lubricants and meets the newest CJ-4 oil specifications. The use of any other oil in 2007 diesel equipment not meeting CJ-4 will cause harm to your engine and in particular the DPM filter. DPM stands for Diesel Particulate Matter and is a highly sophisticated filter designed to clean the exhaust gases before it enters the atmosphere. This filter can become severely clogged if the wrong oil is used in your engine.

Below are the correct oil filters to order per Diesel Engines:
  • Chevy Duramax – EaO-52
  • Dodge Cummins – EaO-80 or Donaldson ELF-7349
  • Ford Power Stroke 7.3L – EaO-99
  • Ford Power Stroke 6.0L – EaO-88

If you own a 2006 or older diesel  Use approved API CI-4 + diesel oil. For 2006 model year and older you may use either one of the following full Synthetic Oil’s.

HDD 5W-30-
This is the oil that I use in my 2005 GMC Duramax. I presently have a BMK16Ea By-Pass Filter mounted on my truck which allows me to extend my drain intervals beyond 25,000-miles.

AME 15W-40
- This is Amsoil’s top selling overall. You can use this lubricant in any gasoline or diesel engine (previous to 2007 models.) AME is an excellent all purpose synthetic fleet oil that will typically meet most of your fleets demands.

ACD 10W-30/SAE 30
- This synthetic oil can be used where a 10W-30 or straight 30 weight oil is desired. This is very good economical choice and like Amsoil’s 15W-40 synthetic oil is an excellent fleet oil.

AMSOIL Introduces World’s First  Filter Cartridge for Diesel Applications with Nanofiber Technology.

AMSOIL INC. of Superior, WI has introduced a new premium, high efficiency cartridge oil filter utilizing nanofiber technology for Ford 6.0L diesel engines ranging from 2003 to 2006. The new EaO-88 is the world’s first oil filter cartridge for diesel applications using advanced submicron full synthetic media. The EaO-88 provides an efficiency of 98.7% at 16 microns, significantly higher than the OEM filter.

The rigid construction of this filter is due to a polymeric center tube and end caps, along with its proprietary composition incorporating special grade nanofiber synthetic media, enabling the filter to last up to 1 year or 25,000 miles when used in conjunction with AMSOIL synthetic motor oil. Because of its improved oil flow, an additional benefit of this synthetic filter media is that oil is delivered to key engine components quicker, thus enhancing the lubrication process during cold weather starts.

Benefits include:

  • Superior filtration efficiency
  • Excellent flow characteristics
  • Reduced engine wear
  • Rugged and durable design

Fast Fact:  A nanofiber is less than one micron in diameter.  A human hair is 80 microns.

Diesel Oil Drain Interval Recommendations Adjusted

AMSOIL has documented increasing levels of fuel contamination (fuel dilution) in the engine oil of 2007-2008 light-duty Ford, GM and Dodge diesel pickups, and indications are that 2009-2010 models are also affected. Research indicates fuel dilution is intensifying due to the use of in-cylinder post-fuel injection during the engine’s exhaust stroke to regenerate the diesel particulate filter (DPF). Fuel in the oil reduces the oil’s life expectancy and effectiveness. Because diesel fuel is a natural solvent, fuel dilution in motor oil causes a decrease in viscosity which may lead to an increase in engine wear rates.

Although AMSOIL Premium Diesel Oils have shown the ability to maintain integrity under fuel dilution conditions, the abnormally high rate and unknown long-term effects have forced AMSOIL to adjust its drain interval recommendations as a precautionary measure in 2007-2010 Dodge 6.7L, Ford 6.4L and GM 6.6L LMM light-duty turbo-diesel pickups. In these applications, AMSOIL recommends changing AMSOIL Premium API CJ-4 Synthetic Diesel Oils (DEO, DME) at the manufacturer-recommended drain interval. Drain intervals may be extended further with oil analysis.

AMSOIL previously announced a fuel dilution issue in 2007-2009 on-highway Caterpillar C13 and C15 engines that forced the company to adjust its drain interval recommendation in those applications to the manufacturer-recommended drain interval.

In all other applications, AMSOIL full synthetic diesel oils are recommended for three times (3X) the OEM recommendation, not to exceed 50,000 miles/600 hours or one year, whichever comes first, while Synthetic Blend 15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel and Gasoline Motor Oil (PCO) is recommended for the longest OEM recommended drain interval. Drain intervals may be extended further with oil analysis.
